Waves: they come crashing onto the shore but are then pulled away by the undercurrent. There’s much more to it than just that; there are lots of other waves that have to come in order to minimize the undercurrent. If the waves want to continue making new ground and expanding onto the shore, then little wave after little wave must keep coming. After quite a few little waves, the undercurrent is broken and a big wave can come and break new ground on the shore. Similarly, there are a bunch of little things that God asks us to do, which may seem unimportant/have no effect, but in reality it’s just allowing us to propel further forward.

This is something that I’ve been learning a lot recently. God, time and time again will ask me to do the little things, that make no sense in my brain, and quite frankly I push back a lot, but time and time again God shows up. It’s the little moments that make space for growth to happen. The conversations that seem pointless are, in reality, the ones that make the biggest difference. The things that I think will do the most damage and make me lose hope, are the same things that end up bringing the most hope.

I’m beginning to realize that it’s not all about making sense; the only thing that matters is if I trust and am obedient to God. Hebrew 11-12 have always been some of my favorite chapters in the Bible, but it hasn’t been until recently that those stories are now reality and relatable. Those people are written about for showing up and fighting the battles when they couldn’t see the outcome. They are written about for having hope that what God promised would come true even if it wasn’t fulfilled in their lifetime. They didn’t give up. They kept fighting the fight. They had faith God would provide. They obeyed Gods commands. They showed up in the little moments.

I challenge you to show up in the little moments this week and see how God provides.

Hebrews 11:1 “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

  1. Thoughtful reflection. Similarly related to our small group discussion tonight. Keep going!

  2. Yoooo, you have consistently shown up in the little moments, the Lord has provided, and He has been glorified through your obedience! The little moments add up and I have seen so much courage and determination in you throughout many of those little moments this year. V proud of you Shineshine (:
